2008
13/04/08
It's that time of year again and the 2008 Race Season is finally underway. Some 26 Mightys and 17 Supers lined up on the grid for their first race at Silverstone last Sunday. Neil qualified on poll, Ian fourth, with the usual fractions of seconds across the grid. Neil got off to an electric start and pulled away from the pack, the battle for 2nd, 3rd and 4th persisted and places were lost and gained right the way through the grid. The race concluded with less than a second cover the top six and Neil just pipped David B to the post for first. Ian did really well although Jody Hancock got past for fourth place and took fastest lap.
2007
2007 brought some very exciting and close racing throughtout. It was all down to the last couple of races to decide the championship winner; which didn't fail to provide suspense right up until the final chequered flag. Both Neil and Ian drove some cracking races; The most memorable was probably the Donnington Power Nights. After some frought racing (and possibly a few choice words) Ian bagged his first win!
Well done to all the Mighty and Super Mighty Minis for the superb racing that provided some entertaining sectating.

A successful year for team sre in the 2006 season Neil and Richard competed in their 2 nd season with Ian and Emma the "rookies" joining them on the grid.
Neil secured 6 wins and one second place with 3 D.N.F's robbing him of the winning championship position. Neil will be continuing in the standard Mighty Mini Championship in 2007 while building a new Super Mighty for the 2008 season.
Richard hit the podium with 5 third places finally finishing in 5th place overall in the championship. Richard managed to finish all the races this year and he led many of them. Unfortunatly he will not be competing in 2007 due to new job commitments.
Ian did very well in his bid to secure the novice championship finishing all races with 3 fourth place finishes, leaving him 6th overall in the championship and second in the novice table. Watch out for him in 2007.
Emma did extremely well after finding that mini racing isn't quite as easy as it looks!! After a spin in the first race and a heavy impact at Cadwell Park she still got back in and gave it her best shot. Due to a component failure at Silverstone she ended her year watching from the grandstands but still a respectable 22nd in the points and 10th in the novice standings. If she gets some sponsorship for 2007 Emma will be competing again.
Congratulations to Nigel Pyke 1st in the Mighty Mini championship and to David Berney Novice champion.

Flying the flag for S.R.E this year was Alex Comis, Mark Ditchburn and, for two races only, Gary Patterson and Bob Bennet (driving Ben Seyfried's car).
Alex finished 3rd in the championship with 100% reliability and numerous podium positions.
Mark finished 4th in the standings with best finishing position of 4th and a fastest lap under his belt.
The two old masters Gary and Bob proved they still have the edge - Gary winning both races at Donnington and 2 fastest laps, with Bob 2nd in both races. Bob also managed to win at Brands later in the year.
First win for Neil Slark!
Oulton Park proved to be very successful for Neil. He produced a qualifying time of 2.20.33 to sit on pole position for the 2nd time but this time he saw it through to the end and won the race.
Initially Simon Wood and Chris Hodgson battled with Neil for the front position but as he was still out in front on the last lap he was the only one that escaped as the following 3 cars tangled. Final positions were Neil Slark, Spencer Lyon, David Hale.
Mallory Park
A dry but overcast day saw Neil qualify in 2nd place with a time of 1.02.93. The drivers were all enjoying themselves out there, having a real battle until Neil and Paul Crees made contact which pushed Neil into the path of the oncoming cars. The result was a totally destroyed car for Neil, and 2 or 3 more damaged ones. Fortunately none of the drivers were badly hurt.

Two wins out of two for Gary in the Super Mighty minis, Very closely followed by Ben Seyfried who claimed second in both very exciting races

Hill climb
Masters racing/SRE put in a great performance at Gurston down on Sat 19th June 04. The famous Wiltshire sprint threw the usual tyre choice dilemma at the drivers, with intermitent rain. A tidy first run by Neal Masters in the Slark loaded Austin Mini secured 2nd place against some serious contenders.

Neal Masters
Goodwood circuit: 5th June 04
Slark powered mini finishes a respectable 2nd at Goodwood:
Neal Masters, in the hillclimb geared 1380 managed to crawl within 1.3 seconds of the winning car, despite a serious differential deficit (4.6 versus 3.9).
